Memory1 is Big Memory for Big Data

Memory1 – composed of Diablo’s Memory eXpansion (DMX) software and Diablo’s high -capacity Flash-DIMMs – makes terabytes of system memory available in a server for big data applications, and without requiring ANY changes to those applications. This transparent expansion of system memory in a server enables support for bigger and/or more application workloads AND significantly reduces Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of the underlying hardware infrastructure.

Applications such as Apache Spark that require large amounts of memory to run efficiently will particularly benefit from Memory1 technology.

Inspur Memory1 Servers are designed to address this critical emerging need in a cost-effective way. In lab tests, for instance, a 500GB SORT took 27.5 minutes with a cluster of three 512GB DRAM-only servers (1.5TB of DRAM total) while the same SORT took only 19.5 minutes with a single 1TB Memory1 server. The solution not only shortens processing time significantly, but also consolidates data center footprint in a 3:1 ratio in this particular case.



Inspur Memory1 Server Offering

Inspur Memory1 Servers are standard dual-socket x86 1U and 2U servers that are pre-tested and pre-qualified to work seamlessly with Memory1 technology. Pre-configured with 1TB or 2TB of Memory1, these servers can be stacked up to provide up to 80TB of system memory in a single full size rack. Inspur Memory1 Servers can be deployed in single server or cluster of 3 configurations, and scale up (from 1TB to 2TB) and scale out to single rack or multi rack levels.
